Xavier Suarez is a highly accomplished pianist, and gifted piano teacher with a true passion for classical music. He currently resides in East Lansing, MI with his wife, Dr. Nermis Mieses, and their wonderful two children and dog Benji.
His dedication to sharing the joys of classical music with people of all ages and abilities is evident in his work as a private piano teacher and recitalist, as well as his role as founder of the acclaimed Teclado Music Institute. As a sought-after collaborator, Xavier has worked with numerous instrumentalists and singers across the United States, bringing his exceptional talent and expertise to a wide range of performances and events.
This summer, Xavier will be serving as a collaborative pianist at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival's OperaFest, where he will bring his unparalleled skill and deep commitment to classical music to bear on some of the most exciting operatic works of our time.
Xavier earned his BM in Piano Performance at the Conservatorio de Musica de Puerto Rico, where he studied with renowned pianist Dr. Félix River Guzmán. He has also earned a MM in Piano Performance under Dr. Garik Pedersen and a MM in Collaborative Piano under Martin Katz, both from top-ranked institutions like the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University.
In addition to his work as Music Director and Young Artist for Pensacola Opera, collaborations at the prestigious Manhattan Summer Voice Festival, and his role as Organist/Pianist at Olivet Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Ohio, Xavier has been a faculty member at Friends Music Camp, as well as accompanist for choirs at Bowling Green State University and Bowling Green High School in Ohio.
